Anderson Speedway IOFS Race: Entries are starting
to pour in
Kentucky Motor Speedway winner Gary Badell and Plymouth Speedway
winner Charlie Hargraves are ready to battle for the 09 point lead. Badell brings a 19 point lead over Doug Greig into
Anderson on July 3rd. Greig is the only driver in the top 3 to not win a race yet, but he is the only drive in the top
three to finish top 5 in both races so far this year. Badell was working his way up from the back ,at Plymouth, when
he cut down a tire. He made it back out on the track, but was several laps down. The car is Lightning fast.
Veterans return to the High Banks!
Doug Greig, Jeff Shackleford, Chris Green, Jeff Hizer, and
Rich Fenwhick. All drivers have led laps this season, and should be battling hard for there first victory's. The
real question about this group of drivers.....Can Shack keep it out of the mud? In both races the mud has sent him to
the back of the pack. Lets see if this dirt late model driver can keep it on the pavement. He has been the 3rd
fastest car in qualifing each show, and has been the fastest in the feature. The brown stuff keeps sucking him in though.
The Rookies are ready for the World's Fastest Quarter
Mile!
RJ Norton III, Mike Marsee, Bob Knuass, And Dain Laster.
Mike Marsee comes into Anderson Speedway with a 138 point lead over rival Dain Laster. The Driver making the big splash
was RJ Norton III. His forth place finish at Plymouth scored him the most points received by any rookie this season.
It will be rough trying to claw his way out of a 1 race deficit, but anything is possible.
IOFS DEBUTE: Driver makeing there first appearnce with
the new organization
"The Big Cat" Casey White, Bobby Doughtit, Bruce Tunny,
Chucky Hargraves, and 'The Bulldog" Bobby Whitaker. Casey White and Chucky Hargraves make there maiden voyage to
the Anderson Speedway. Bruce Tunny is a former winner at Anderson, he is eager to be Anderson next winner. Bobby
Doughtit has been out of racing since 2002, but has made a strong comeback this year. He has not raced alot this year,
but he did finish 2nd in the 2009 Jake's 150. The Bulldog is out in a brand new car this season. He has struggled
to figure out the set-up.
NITE OF DESTRUCTION!!!!

All drivers did walk away! Each team will
have a long week ahead of them, as all cars are back in action next weekend.
Sportsdrome Speedway (Jeffersonville, IN):
The Sportsdrome Speedway had a regular show on Saturday, June 20th. All 4 of the regular
divisions were on hand for a night of heats and features. The Xtreme Winged Figure 8, the top division at the track, started
their main event with 19 cars going 25 laps. The #62 of Nick Reichmuth jumped out from the first row and took command early
in the race. He has had engine troubles all season long and has not been a factor at all, until this week. The rookie driver
pulled out to a nice nearly straightaway lead. Another rookie driver, Matt Johnson in the #0, held down 2nd place until lap
15, when the #85 of Allan Williams Jr. caught him and took over the 2nd spot. He then chased down the leader Reichmuth on
lap 20. Williams quickly became the new race leader as he seemed to really have the 85 car running good and was about to capture
his second feature of the year. However, as he was about to take the white flag, he could not get thru a pack of cars battling
for position at the intersection. A collision at the X between Williams and the #38 of Artie B Ware resulted in some major
damage to both cars. With the red flag, they reverted back to lap 23 for the restart. The 62 of Nick Reichmuth was now back
in the front position, but current points leader Chris Harmon in the #6, had quietly worked his way up to 2nd place now. He
wasted no time in passing Reichmuth in the first turn on the restart and came away with the victory. Reichmuth had to settle
for 2nd place but had a very impressive run. Rounding out the top 5 were, #16 Cory Harmon 3rd, #0 Matt Johnson 4th,and #11
David Noble 5th. The Dromer 8 feature had a season low 20 cars start the 25 lap event this week. As usual though, there was plenty
of good hard racing and exciting action to go around. Craig Rogers in the #69 held the lead in the early going until the #5
of James Brinley took over on lap 5. He then relinquished the lead on lap 10 when the 59 of Nick Cook surprisingly came up
and grabbed the top spot. Cook, who also runs in the Dromer Oval division, actually scratched from that feature earlier in
the evening with motor problems. After a little work, he began the Dromer 8 feature with every intention of taking a few laps
and pulling off. But after a few laps, Cook said that the problem seemed to clear up. It cleared up so well that he was able
to pull out to a comfortable lead while getting thru the intersection safely the rest of the way. This was his first feature
win of the year. Brinley, who keeps getting stronger every week, held off #46 Chris Workman for 2nd. After Workman, it was
Gary Lohdon in the 39 car in 4th with Rogers finishing up a good run in 5th. In the Oval Xtreme feature, it was Rodney
Bruce with the win. The Dromer Ovals seen Mike Kestler win the A feature and Bill McCrary take the B feature.
Anderson Speedway: www.andersonspeedway.com We started off the nght with 10 cars. Johnny Magee took home fast time once again with his time being
19.797 making his streak perfect..
In the Heat 1 we saw Ronnie Rose jump out to a huge lead and never looked back.
But the real race was for 2nd when we had 4 cars fighting for it. Rannie Hinton in the 38 was in 2nd trying to hold off Josh
Tharp in the 8, Johnny Magee in the 33 and Shean Cullen in the 22. Hinton ended up holding off the other 3 but it was good
clean racing but later proved me wrong.
Heat 2 I can sum up the race in 1 word. " Boring " Jeff Swinford
took the early lead and never looked back. Finishing 2nd was Ronnie Phipps in the 85... Then 00 of Rickie Tharp..
Feature from hell saw The Tharp Boy's on the front row. The field came down for the start and saw Josh Tharp getting the
Jump on Big Bro but coming off of 2 Rickie Tharp came down the track right accross the nose of Phipps and R. Tharp spun out
to bring caution 1. They made it a complete restart.. This time Rickie jumped out front and led the first 2 laps when all
hell broke loose. Phipps was trying to make a move on Josh Tharp and the two rubbed and Josh Tharp takes Phipps out but out
of no where Josh Poore drills Josh Tharp whitch ended Tharps night. After that was over I thought we would have a smooth race
from then on. Oh boy was I wrong. On lap 11 the 22 on Shean Cullen trys spinning Rose but ends up flattening his tire, Magee
then jumps around the high side of Rose and Rose drove him straight into turn 4. Magee then limped his car around the track
and coming out of 2 going to the crossover Magee slows even more waiting on 2nd place Rose and runs right out there but misses.
All this is going on under green. Magee then keeps going around and when he comes to the crossover again he trys to hit Rose
once again but in doing so he runs into Rickie Tharp and Tharp went spinning. Caution finally comes out and Tharp left the
track with a flat and all the others who had flats. Tharp made it back out but had a hurt car from the wreck. Green came back
out and we raced for 2 more laps until Josh Tharp spins Elliot Mckinney and we went to another caution.. The cars of Cullen
and Magee rejoined the field a few laps down.. The track pulled Magee over and warned him about doing anything else but racing.
It looked like Swinford and Rose had the top 2 locked but with a handfull of laps left Rose was blacked flag for his window
net being down. The checker came out with Jeff Swinford winning.

SHINES IN JAKE’S 150 FIGURE 8 AT THE INDIANAPOLIS SPEEDROME | The Indianapolis
Speedrome® Indianapolis, Indiana June 20, 2009
The Home of the World Figure 8® hosted the prestigious
9th annual Jake’s 150 on Saturday night June 20th. The Speedrome fans were treated to a barn-burner in this extra-length
event on the track’s famous Figure 8 course. Drivers in the Jiffy Lube Late Models and Trackside Race Car Parts Stocks
dared the crossover three hundred times with some making it through and some, not so much. Also the program contained oval
competition for the Peters Auto Service Hornets, Roadrunners, and Stocks.
The day began with 31 drivers eyeing
the $2000 first prize in the 9th annual Jake’s 150-lap Figure 8, but first they had to qualify. Current Jiffy Lube Late
Model Chase for the Cup point leader Mark Tunny set quick time with a lap of 17.252 seconds. The field also contained several
Stock class machines with Larry Hahn the best against the clock at 19.305 seconds. Then Florida Figure 8 champion Eddie VanMeter
won the trophy dash over a trio of Tunny pilots. Mark drew an inversion of 12 for tonight’s starting grid ironically
placing his cousin Austin Tunny on the pole. The teams pushed their rides out to the grid for driver’s introductions
as Speedrome Hall of Fame member Kenny Sizemore served as grand marshal.
The green flag flew as Fireworks lit up
the night’s sky. 2007 World Figure 8® champion Doug Greig took the lead as the large crowd stayed on their feet
to view the congested crossover. 1994 National Figure 8 king Rich Fenwick followed through as the runner-up with reigning
track champion Jack Dossey Jr in third. Jack made it up one more spot and began pressuring the leader. Lap twelve was the
time in traffic for Dossey to claim the prime position. He now saw inaugural event winner Rodney Sizemore on his tail with
Greig slipping to third. The first dramatic moment came on lap 23 when Sizemore and Mark Tunny had a grinding crash at the
crossover eliminating the top two in points from the contest.
The restart saw Dossey resume his charge with Fenwick
back as the second place car. But the man on the rise toward the front was the “Big Dog” Bobby Douthitt. He went
to third on lap 56 and ten circuits later became the runner-up. That top pair were each on an island of their own leaving
a great battle behind for the final podium spot. Fenwick, Greig, and 1988 World Figure 8® champion Leonard Basham swapped
spots several times during the middle segment on the Jake’s. Also having a smooth run was current series top rookie
Nick Moore, who stood sixth the last car on the lead lap.
The next dramatic story of the regular season’s
biggest crossover event came on lap 92 when the red flag flew. The pit crews heated up as four of the top five drivers headed
in for fresh tires. Dossey and Douthitt had four new skins mounted on while Greig and Basham elected for a new pair of shoes
on the rear. They returned to the track all now at the tail with new leader Rich Fenwick taking the green flag. The guys made
their way towards Rich in this order at the race’s century mark: Dossey, Greig, Douthitt, and Basham.
The
104th circuit saw Jack back as the Jake’s race leader before a minor incident the next lap. In turn three a tangle between
Fenwick and Greig saw the pair hooked bringing out a quick red flag. The restart lineup had Dossey and Douthitt side-by-side
with Basham on their bumper. The two cars from the episode rejoined the field without going to the pits. The 1999 track championship
rivalry restart saw Jack reestablished the advantage looking for his first win in this classic event. Douthitt and Basham
swapped the runner-up spot a couple times before Bobby took hold.
Dossey posted some great times over the final
circuits putting all but the runner-up off the prime lap. He cruised to his first-ever Jake’s 150 victory which gave
him a career sweep of all the Speedrome major races. “I am so excited to win this race tonight”, stated the happy
winner. “The crew has been focusing on this event for several weeks. Jake Cohen was a special person to a lot of drivers
over the years and I have always wanted to the win his race”. Dossey led 129 of the race’s 150 laps.
The top four finishers all have a World Figure8® title on their career resume. Bobby Douthitt was the runner-up and
the only driver to stay on the lead circuit with the rampaging winner. Third place Doug Greig and fourth place Leonard Basham
were just one behind. Nick Moore and Rich Fenwick were two laps off the pace. Rounding out the top ten finishers were Jesse
Tunny, Eddie VanMeter, Casey White, and Ben Tunny who had a late race green flag pit stop for a flat tire. Bob Johnson was
the top finishing Stock class driver in 13th.
The Trackside Race Car Parts Stocks began their oval journey with
a hot qualifying session on the famous fifth mile. 1986 division champion Joe Sheedy posted the best time with a 13.882 second
circuit. Veteran Jeff Armour, Hornet series convert Jess Holliday, and title contender EJ Neat picked up victories in the
preliminary heat races. The main event saw rookie John Greer Jr burst out to the lead. A series of red flags sent some quick
machines to the pits with damage including the race leader. The late stages saw rookie-of-the-year contender Robby Mink Jr
vault to the lead with three former division champs on his heels. But they could not overcome the freshman as he rolled to
his second feature win in the past three weeks. 2006 champ Larry Hahn was second with two-time king Jimmy Kirby third.
The Roadrunner drivers lined-up for battle in this latest round of the Chase for the Cup. Heat race one saw last week’s
feature winner Kevin Ciesiolka best over Henry McDougalle Jr. The second preliminary had super senior Toby Eads winning over
Dewayne Armour. The main event got off to a rough and rugged start seeing point leader Kevin Smith’s day end on the
opening lap along with rookie’s Brandon Johnson and Roger Hendrickson. The restart saw the fans vote for the flagpole
track configuration which has drivers circling a large tractor tire at the end of each circuit. Emerging from the tire smoke
was former Bomber Figure 8 champion Herbie Conrad. The veteran cut some good laps to roll to his first feature triumph of
the year. Segment one winner Kenny Smith came second with Ron “Junior” Crabtree third in a borrowed machine.
The Peters Auto Service Hornets set off on another night of close competition in the Chase for the Cup championship.
The program began with a trio of heat race testers. Rookie Aaron Smay, “Lady Rocket” Brittany Dailey, and 2009
feature winner Jeff A Smith hoisted checkered flags in those contests. The main event saw division newcomer Jerry Hatfield
jump to an early advantage with second-generation driver Chris Kraning in the mix. Several top dogs raced from the rear of
the field to catch Hatfield as the event wound down. Point leader Don Klein caught up with just a few to go. He was close
but could not de-rail Hatfield who captured his career first win. Klein was second and Smith grabbed third in a photo finish
over Nigel Peters who raced in three of tonight’s four divisions.
